Replacement Doors Enhance the Beauty, Security and Energy Efficiency of Your Staten Island & New Jersey Home
We Sell & Install Replacement Doors of All Kinds
It’s easy to consider doors a relatively minor part of your home. They’re just a way to get in and out, right? But in fact, your doors are in many ways the centerpiece of your home’s overall look. Furthermore, your doors can enhance your home’s aesthetics, provide better security, offer more natural light (or less if that’s what you prefer), and improve ventilation and energy efficiency.
We specialize in the installation of the industry’s best entry doors, patio doors, and storm doors, which is why we’ve partnered with the nation’s top door manufacturer, ProVia.
Installing doors on the New Jersey side of the bridge? We do that too — see our dedicated door installation in NJ page for entry, patio, and storm doors across Middlesex, Monmouth, and Union counties, served from our South Amboy showroom.

Frequently Asked Questions
Door replacement in New Jersey typically runs $1,200-$3,500 for an entry door and $400-$900 for a storm door installed, with the price driven by the door material (fiberglass, steel, or wood), glass package, hardware, and any structural work. Home Exteriors by The Men With Tools installs exterior doors only (no interior doors) and gives a written price on the first visit, with financing available. A free estimate is the only way to get a number for your specific door.
Home Exteriors by The Men With Tools is one of the highest-rated door replacement companies in New Jersey, with a 4.9 Google rating, an A+ BBB rating, and 15,000+ installations completed since 2013. The company uses its own crews (not subcontractors) and follows a 55-point installation process to make sure the door seals, weatherstripping, and threshold are all correct. The owner is the President of the Home Improvement Contractors Association of Staten Island.
A standard entry door installation takes about 4-6 hours from start to finish, including removal of the old door, fitting the new prehung unit, insulating, installing hardware, and adjusting the threshold. Storm doors usually add 1-2 hours per door. Home Exteriors by The Men With Tools uses a 55-point installation checklist to make sure nothing is missed, and the crew cleans up the work area before they leave.
In New Jersey, a permit is usually not required for a like-for-like exterior door replacement where the opening size is not changing, but a permit is required if you are widening the opening or changing the door style in a way that affects structure or fire egress. Home Exteriors by The Men With Tools handles permit paperwork when one is needed and follows New Jersey uniform construction code. Your local town building department can confirm the rule for your project.
Exterior doors last about 20-30 years in New Jersey's climate when they are properly installed and maintained, with fiberglass typically outlasting steel and wood. Home Exteriors by The Men With Tools installs premium fiberglass and steel doors from brands like ProVia and Therma-Tru that carry 20-year to lifetime warranties against frame and skin defects. Annual cleaning and replacing weatherstripping every 5-7 years will extend the life further.

On time, courteous, respectful and friendly crew. Addressed any concerns that I had in a professional manner. Great price. Quality product and high quality clean workmanship. This is the type of service that is very hard to come by today. Highly recommended!
Finally, a company I can trust! Thank you so much for your impeccable work and awesome attitude. It’s so greatly appreciated. One thing I can say with certainty, you can sleep well knowing that your job will be handled by professionals. John, you rock!
From the getgo the salesperson was on time, knowledgeable and friendly. The crew who came to put in my new window were professional and cleaned up before they left. The window I chose is beautiful. No hot or cold air penetrating this window.
Yes! Found exactly what I was looking for. Needed it very quickly. They were very cooperative and helpful even with my immediate need. The product was promised and delivered on time! I found their selection terrific and their customer service top notch.
John and his crew were absolutely amazing. You always have reservations when hiring someone but those concerns were quickly allayed once I met John. I had two entry doors changed and I couldn't be happier with the work. I intend to use them again...
This company is amazing. I searched all of NJ for a replacement window company and got three quotes which were ridiculous. I found The Men With Tools on Google and gave it a shot. Not only were they cheaper but their work was amazing. Highly recommend.
On more than one occasion, members of their staff have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service, from rushing a re-order to providing product samples. Their work ethics are outstanding and I highly recommend them to all our clients.
